This Friday is Kiswahili Day at IST Elementary. The day will start with a whole school assembly then students will be involved in Furahia Siku sessions until break time. Parents are very welcome to join the assembly. Both adults and children are encouraged to dress in traditional/cultural clothing on Friday.
Grade 5 students have been asked to prepare several scientific experiments at home. Today they should have a paper boomerang, tomorrow they need materials for a balloon powered car and on Friday they need to have a completed vessel for the Egg Drop Challenge. Next Friday, January 22nd is our Grade 5 Assembly at 7.20am. The assembly will be a Science Fair which will begin in the PE Hall and then continue on the covered courts. As the weather is getting hotter we would like to ask you to ensure your child has an extra t-shirt to change into after PE lessons. They may also wish to bring deodorant and a small towel to keep themselves fresher. This links in perfectly with our last unit of inquiry about puberty. A few dates for the calendar:

The Key Concepts are: Function: How do scientists carry out investigations (scientific method)? Causation: How do we use scientific laws to explain why something behaves the way it does? Reflection: How do we apply our understanding and skills to new investigations? What do I learn through trial and error? To begin explore this site: http://www.paperaeroplanes.com/ What can you investigate regarding paper aeroplanes? Project Space Planes This is fun. Planes launched from space to see how far they went.
